Michael Hanrahan arrived in Melbourne on this day 23rd July in 1854 aboard the Miles Barton. If he arrived today in 2007 instead of facing police in gold licence hunts, he would face a police force demanding a error-prone saliva test followed by a demand for a blood sample. The most corrupt Victorian government in 2007 has no respect for civil liberties or for the Westminster system of the democratic separation of powers.

Apart from the deaths at the Eureka Stockade, one little known and long standing injustice of the Eureka Stockade riots has already been brought to the attention of the Victorian government, which has again tried to corruptly influence other branches of government, in this case the courts as former Premier Bracks has tried to influence other branches of government, like his secret deals made with the Victorian Police Union.
One injustice of the Eureka Stockade continues to this day on the English Bentleys who owned the Eureka Hotel destroyed by the miners and their land was stolen by Victorian parliamentarians in 1859. This matter is being introduced at Federal and international courts as the Bracks/Brumby Victorian government refuses to address any issues of police or political corruption in Victoria.

From the data it appears that Hanrahan mothers might be giving birth at greater ages than the average. Without analysing all the birth dates, it seems prima facie, that most Hanrahan families seem to have started later in life, when the mother was in her early 30's and some were still giving birth in their mid and even late 40s.

We might even learn from the longest lived Hanrahans, what helped them to survive longer. In Michael's case it seems that luck helped him out on the day of the slaughter. He could have, would probably have been the first to engage the enemy and likely to have been among the first killed.
