After paying the access fee for a movie, an email will be sent to you confirming your username and password and a link to the full movie you paid to access. Passwords will be sent as soon as possible, depending on the time of day, please allow up to 12 hours for the password to be emailed to you. After you have paid the access fee for the full movie, you will be directed to a page where you will need to enter your username and password.
Wait until the full file downloads, many are large files, so you will need to have a fast internet connection to obtain these files quickly! These files are not streaming mpg files, the whole animation will need to be downloaded before the movie displays. Right click the file, save it to your computer.

Smaller lower Quality, looping glowing edges earth movie.
30 frames a seconds provides clearer animation, but some older computers may not be able to keep up with the frame rate.
These animations were all made to be repeating seamless looping movies of the earth in space surrounded by circling satellites. The turning earth moving through space is circled by satellites spiraling around the earth and looping back to their starting positions as the earth completes one orbit on its axis.
Most of these larger animations with many frames were made with vintage 3-D software Macromind 3-D™ that allowed you to mathematically define the orbits of objects on their own axis and around each other. Formulas were calculated for the orbit of planets from mercury to Saturn and its major moons. The path of the planets could not be shown in real time, Saturn would hardly move in its 50 year cycle around the sun compared to Mercury Venus or Earth. The orbits of the outer planets was speeded up and the inner planets slowed down. Each planet had its own rotation around itself and around the imaginary sun which would loop back to the starting position in 360, 480, 1,200 or 1,800 frames.
Texture maps were then made in Photoshop™ of the earth and planets with a flat mercator projection where the top and bottom edges were the same colour as were the left and right edges. Each texture map was wrapped around a planet at frame one. The rendering of frames took months of shading and raytracing.
Even more tedious than rendering, In some movies, each frame has been saved and worked on individually with special effects like glowing edges. The preview animations are limited in the number of frames they contain.
Licenses to use graphics on commercial sites are related to the number of page views. The price for the commercial use of Heretic Press graphics is:
$300 US a month for under 1,000 page hits a month
$500 US a month for over 1,000 but under 10,000 hits a month
$900 US a month for over 10,000 but under 100,000 hits a month
$1,400 US a month for 100,000 to 1,000,000 hits a month
$2,500 US a month for unlimited use on commercial sites
Some movies are available as animationed gif files. Many Quicktime Movies are now available as gif animations in three sizes, thumbnails, phone screen sizes and quarter screen and NTSC standard 640 × 480 pixels.
These solar rotation earth animations loop back to the same frame they started in. they end where they started and contine a looping animation.
These movies were all made with 3-D rendering software. A world map was scanned into Photoshop and the sea at the edges and ice at the poles was blended to the same shade, so the earth texture map would wrap seemlessly around a sphere. The objects were then rotated, animated to loop seamlessly and rendered at 15 or 30 frames per second, with a black chroma key, so that the movie can be played with the black areas being transparent over another moving image, like TV newscreen logos.
All movies were made for Heretic Press and are © Heretic Press 1994/2007. Thumbnails of movies will not open the movie without the password which is needed to view and save the full file.
